Around Quito

Correa won today's election for prez by 60% for another 4 years. They say there were just too many other candidates for any one of them to have had a chance.

Ecuador Problems - Solutions

Rains continue along with the problems continuous rain brings. It is the rainy season. And if the rains don't come, there's a problem with fires. Last year brought way too many fires in Quito.

Tourism in Ecuador

The Feast of Our Lady of Good Success came, and so did the crowds for the annual procession and rosary of the dawn. New petitions took the place of the old ones in the box that goes at her feet as she takes her place in the convent for another year. Although she does come out in May and October to the head of the altar.

Hooray! The new airport, Quiport, opens this week as the old one closes. No more postponements. It's about an hour and a half outside of Quito, so if you come, be prepared to pay more for taxi services. There will be vans that charge $20 per person, and if I know anything about Ecuador, arrangements will be made to make it easier for tourism.

Tour Guide

Angel, of Quinde Adventures will run his van for airport transfer at $20 a head.
