Conceptionist Church Whose Home of Our Lady of Good Success Is Its Convent

Conceptionist Church and Convent, Home of Our Lady of Good Success - whose full name reads Iglesia de La Limpia Concepcion - occupies the whole block on Garcia Moreno, Chile y Benalcazar and includes Mejia. This first monastery in Quito came to life in September of 1575.

Upon entering through the door across from the Presidential Palace on Chile, you will step into my second favorite gem in Quito.

Our Lady of Good Success appeared here to Mariana de Jesus Torres around the same time as the time of the Lily of Quito, and her statue predominates as the treasure of the convent.

The public shares in honoring and venerating her - displayed in all her glory above the main altar - only on months and days designated for her. Not even her 400th anniversary brings her out more, as had previously been reported. Many miracles continue credited to Mary's intercession by this title.

On her feast day in February, at 4:30AM, a procession in her honor begins from here. If you ever attend the yearly pre-lenten pilgrimage, you'll get to participate and witness the fervor of the faith it elicits in the people of Quito.

Blessed Mariana de Jesus (Torres) lived and died in this convent. She, too, voluntarily practiced austere penances with joy out of her intense love of God, as did Third Order Franciscan, St. Mariana de Jesus.

Her account of her visions have been kept intact for centuries at her request. The website with the same name as Our Lady of Good Success divulges all the details.

Conceptionist Church safeguards Our Lady of Good Success as well as the the Divino Nino de la Santa Cruz, sculpted in accordance with one of the visions of this nun, who adamantly shunned publicity.
